Bad breath, also termed as halitosis, has been disturbing lots of individuals throughout the world. It is indeed a humiliating condition an individual might have. This undesired condition could sometimes lead to one's isolation from the group or even from friends.

The bacteria produces bad breath through its rotting actions in the tooth causing the teeth to lose its minerals.


Bad breath can also be caused by the dryness of one's mouth. Our saliva helps combat the bacteria in our mouth. When there is reduction or absence of saliva in the oral cavity, it leads to accumulation of plaque which favors bacterial growth causing bad breath. Having bad breath may also be caused by some gum problems and periodontal diseases.

The bad habit of smoking is also one of the reasons of having foul odors in the mouth. The nicotine, tar and other foul odor smelling substance are build up in the cavity of the mouth when you smoke producing more foul odor. The extreme dieting of an individual may also cause him to acquire bad breath. Not only that extreme dieting has many adverse effects on one's health, it will also give off a foul odor due to prolong starvation caused by ketoacidosis.

Same with any problems that we have in our body, the production of foul odor in the mouth can be avoided and can be treated. As well all know, keeping our mouth clean and healthy is the best way to avoid having bad breath. Nevertheless, different methods can be done to help you deal with this problem and eventually get rid of bad breath.


It is necessary to regularly do the right method of brushing your teeth. Studies shows that many people does not really observed brushing their teeth two times a day and that it's done in the wrong way. When you have problems regarding dental caries, it is best to seek an advice from your dentist to have it cured right away. To avoid having dry mouth, chew some sugar-free gums and have a good amount of water intake. Dry mouth lessens the amount of saliva which serves as a natural mouthwash leading to production of foul odor in the mouth.

An individual should start quitting the harmful habit of smoking as well as chewing tobacco. Smoking and tobacco products will produce very foul odor as they are gathered in the oral cavity. Proper usage of mouthwash will lessen the production of foul odors in the mouth. To break the build up of some food fragments and sugars in the mouth, where most bacteria exist in abundance, rinse your mouth after eating and drinking.
